Install guide

Get Episaw on your phone

Episaw installs directly from a file (a "sideload"). It's quick, and you have two ways to keep it updated. Here's everything.

↓ Download the latest APK

Install it

  1. Download the APK

Tap the download button above on your Android phone. It saves an .apk file to your Downloads.

  2. Open the file

Open your Downloads and tap the Episaw APK. Android will ask to install it.

  3. Allow installing from this source

The first time, Android asks permission to install apps from your browser or file manager. Tap Settings on that prompt, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.

  4. Install & open

Tap Install, then Open. You'll see the Episaw icon on your home screen from now on.

  5. Connect your server

In Episaw, enter your Emby or Jellyfin server address, sign in, and tap Sync. Your watch history appears in seconds.

Is sideloading safe? Yes — you're installing directly from the official release page, the same way many self-hosted and open apps are distributed. Episaw asks only for the permissions it needs to work.

Get automatic updates

Two ways to stay on the latest version:

Option 1 · Built-in updater

Episaw checks for new versions on its own. When one's available, you'll see an Update available banner on the home screen — tap it to download. You can also check anytime in Settings → Check for updates. Nothing to set up.

Option 2 · Obtainium (fully automatic)

Obtainium is a free app that auto-updates apps straight from their source. Install Obtainium, then add Episaw using this URL:

https://github.com/AE2apps/Episaw-releases

Obtainium will notify you and install updates automatically whenever a new Episaw release comes out.
